?DIPUTS os yhw

When was the last time I did something new?

When was the last time I thought about my thinking?

When was the last time I really did some 'THINKING'?

When I first heard this question – 'when did you think last?' I said, of course I am thinking 24x7. What a stupid question this is! And then I REALLY started to THINK!

Am I really thinking or am I just……. 'Rethinking' ?

Am I really thinking or am I just……. 'recollecting'?

Am I really thinking or am I just……. 'remembering' ?

Am 'I' really thinking?

Am I 'really' thinking?

Am I really 'thinking'?

(Man! I am proud of myself, for, I remember my English lesson on 'stress'J This was one lesson I really enjoyed. How the meaning of the same sentence changes depending on the stress on a particular word! )

Edward De Bono in his book 'Why so stupid' claims that human race has never really learned to think! What an audacious statement!

'We brush, we eat, we think!' is what he says. We are not really thinking. We are just browsing our memory and doing what is being stored in there. We are most of the time remembering and recollecting than really thinking.

Thinking about 'thinking' is a PhD by itself. There is so much to think, evaluate, analyze, debate and conclude.

But it would be a valuable exercise to start thinking about these questions.

Let's begin our first step towards thinking and do this simple exercise.

  1. List down 6 random words and form a story. Give the same 6 random words to few other people and see what story they form. Share over here, whether they were similar stories or were they completely different. Do it with elders and do it with children as well.

It's an interesting exercise right! Share your experience. We would then discuss further.

  1. It is really TRUE Santhosh, most of the life time we spend in either remembering, rethinking, or recollecting.
Last week i had been to a school, the thought came in mind, what to do in the time given!
So i was recollecting all the activities which i have already learnt or which i know before, never thought why cant i come up with something new!! ???
I go to that school most of the weekends, but till now, did what i know before, but now i will come up with something NEW! :)
    thanks for the above questions!

  2. Hi, The topic Let the Child Blossom is nice da. Just want to share a few thoughts.

Youth/Children are the future. Blossom i think every one know the meaning in their languages. It actually symbolizes that any talent or quality that should come within them. Nothing can be forced in. Like i heard a line. When egg gets breaked by itself and and when the chicks comes out there comes a life. but if the same egg is broken from outside there will be no life inside. So lets make it a point that we dont scold or teach children values. Lets live with values they will learn from us and other thing that i learned from our company's training centre weekly messages. The biggest scientist from some country had been asked that how could he invent medicines for so many diseases. he replied in simple way " by mistakes". then he had quoted a instance in his life. Once he droped a glass of milk and the glass broke and milk wasted. We as a normal humans see only that Rs. 50 glass and Rs. 12 milk. but his mother after seeing it asked him that whether he likes to play in milk and she too joined in it. later but asked him to clean after making the place nasty. which both did it joyfully. then she took him to another place and tought him how to hold a glass its simple just having a hand at bottom of it will never break it. These made him realize a mistake can also be tought in different way. IF all the parents of future generation are like this then each child in this world will blossom.

  3. another important thing i feel as u had asked why we never think. Its simple we all are system driven. From morning brushing till night sleeping. no innovativeness in our day - today life and so there is no happiness in our life we all are just a ROBO.

  4. @Siva - really true. ' Seeing Mistakes as part of learning' is a topic by itself. We need to discuss that in detail. :)
